Redwood City’s latest development proposal seeks to construct 72 residential units on a property currently home to Mi Rancho supermarket in the Redwood Village neighborhood. Once the project application is deemed complete, the proposal will undergo environmental and design review before its first public hearing, the date for which has yet to be set.
Did you know that almost half of Redwood City residents rent their home? As of Jan. 1 there are new laws in effect for rental housing. Rental leases must be at least 12 months and rents can only be increased after the 12 month period. If a landlord evicts a renter before the 12 month period, in some situations, they must compensate the renter with three months rent. Smoking in all multi-family buildings has also been banned by the City.
A new public art installation is coming to Courthouse Square. Starting Jan. 5, one of the glass-covered kiosks in the Square will become home to a rotating art installation to be on view 24 hours a day and illuminated at night. The yearlong project titled “Art Kiosk” will feature 10 local, national and international artists and it will be devoted to what’s known as installation art. Each month of the year, a new piece of artwork in a different medium will be installed in the space, and on select days, the artists will be available to discuss their work with curious passersby.
We were walking downtown with our kiddos and saw this new spot, The Bottleshop opened just before the holidays on Broadway. Excited to pop in and check it out soon!
Get out of the rain and check out some of this weekend’s open houses, like this charming home I’m holding open on Roosevelt. If you’re in the market to buy or sell a home, I would love to work with you. Schedule a free consultation or give me a ring at (650) 704-8883.
