Downtown
Redwood City has the largest adult and kid/family friendly downtown between San Mateo and Palo Alto. With options like restaurants, coffee shops, bars, theatre, Courthouse Square, SM County Museum, and RWC Library, you can always find something to do!

Price
Compared to neighboring towns San Carlos, Menlo Park, and Atherton, Redwood City offers more affordable housing options.  You can buy a 3 or 4 bedroom home in Redwood City for what it would cost you to buy a 2 bedroom home in Menlo Park or Atherton.  You’re also getting a little more bang for your buck, since you can find homes in Redwood City on a larger lot for less than it would cost you in San Carlos. 

Central location
Redwood City really is in the heart of Silicon Valley: San Jose and San Francisco are both just 30 minutes away. If you’re commuting to Palo Alto or Mountain View, it’s a 15-20 minute drive.

Nice weather
The city’s slogan is Climate Best by Government Test. Redwood City is typically warmer than San Mateo and Belmont yet cooler than Palo Alto and Mountain View.  It’s also noticeably cooler than San Jose and much sunnier than SF (especially in the summer).  In the middle of summer it might be 60 degrees in San Francisco, 90 degrees in Redwood City, and 102 in San Jose.  

Diversity
Redwood City offers a diverse range of people, geography, architecture, restaurants, and businesses.  The variety factor alone, is what makes Redwood City feel more like a city than a town. And that makes it attractive to people moving from larger cities–like San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles–out to the ‘burbs.
