The The Friends of the Veterans Memorial Senior Center are hosting a Roaring 20’s Speakeasy dinner to support the Center’s nutrition program, which provides healthful nutrition and daily companionship for seniors. Join them for a dinner and silent auction on April 29th. You can purchase tickets here.

Thinking about adding a furry friend to your family? The Nine Lives Foundation will temporarily close its animal shelter in Redwood City while they renovate a new location in a smaller space just down the road. As a result of the closure about 80 cats need to either be adopted or placed in foster homes as soon as possible. If you’re unable to adopt, consider donating to their fundraising campaign $9 for 9 Lives.

The Main Gallery is a beautiful little art gallery nestled in between Alana’s Café and the Redwood City Library. Due to rising rent costs, among other things, they are in danger of losing their space. They are trying to raise $10,000 to keep their doors open. You can help their cause by donating here.

Join the Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation. During Earth Month (April 1-30) go to mywaterpledge.com and make your pledge to conserve water and energy on behalf of Redwood City. They are giving away over $50,000 in prizes! Share your pledge with friends for more opportunities to win.

The Planning Commission has reviewed a proposal to redevelop the Broadway Plaza shopping center at the corner of Woodside Road and Broadway in Redwood City, and have requested a study of the environmental impact of the project, especially on traffic in the vicinity. You can read more about it here

And, if you’re home hunting, check out this weekend’s open houses like this remodeled home in Mt. Carmel or this spacious Woodside Plaza home.

PS. Don’t forget to fill out our survey. We’d love to know what you enjoy about the site and where we can improve! And you’ll be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift card to a Redwood City business of your choice.
