If you’ve been following along lately, you may know that Cliff and I are remodeling our two-bedroom home. Last week we shared that our house was built in 1927 and that we love the original details and charm, but it’s not clearly one architectural style — it’s a bit of a mashup between Spanish Eclectic and Tudor. (Check out the post here to find out what style your house is.) So instead of making it one or the other, we’re rolling with the mix.
When it came to my favorite part of any project — gathering inspiration — it did take some time to find homes that captured what we were envisioning. We want to keep as much of the original character as we can, and make it feel a little more modern at the same time. Here are some of the homes we’re looking to as inspiration for our project.
We’re settling in on a direction that includes a smooth white stucco exterior with a dark gray roof and black framed windows for contrast. We’re also keeping the arch detailing and woodwork that currently exists to frame the front door.
PS. Excited to share more with you as we finalize our plans! If you’re thinking about remodeling, see Cliff’s tips for buying a small house and adding on. Or check out our last house project over here.
