Water rescue teams from the Bay Area have headed down to Texas to assist in relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Federal officials have activated all 28 Federal task forces including two water rescue teams from Menlo Park and one from Oakland. One way you can support families impacted by Hurricane Harvey by donating to the Red Cross.

Developers are finalizing their application for the Broadway Plaza project, with a proposal to redevelop two Redwood City blocks between Broadway and Bay Road, and Chestnut and Charter streets. Their plan is to build three five-story office buildings, up to 520 residential units, and about 26,000 square feet of retail space.

As we’ve seen more housing and office space built downtown, a recent study session found that Redwood City consumers would like to see a wider selection of retail and lifestyle amenities. Some residents said they would like to see a downtown walking park. (Yes, please!) Council members expressed interest in forming a group of consumers, retailers, and property owners to help create a vision to guide the future of retail development.

This Friday is the final Music on the Square Concert of the summer.  Head down to the Courthouse on Sept. 1 to see Pride and Joy perform, catch up with friends, and close out the summer!

And if you’re looking to make Redwood City home, check out this weekend’s open houses like this comfortable home in the Roy Cloud school district.
