It’s been an exciting couple of weeks over here at the Whearley household as we’re getting underway with construction on our remodel. This week our contractor and his crew started replacing our foundation.
The house was built in 1927 with a perimeter foundation that is now cracked and even rotated in one area. It’s something that probably needs to be fixed anyways, and it definitely can’t support a second story. So our contractor is removing the foundation, building forms, and pouring an entirely new perimeter. They will also be adding seismic upgrades, a weep screed (I had to look that one up), ventilation, drainage, and a new slab in the garage.
In the meantime, we’re finalizing our plans for the addition of a master bedroom and remodeling the kitchen. There are so many decisions to make so it’s been quite a process, but we’re really excited about the direction things are headed and can’t wait to share more with you. We’ll be posting our progress more regularly over on Facebook and Instagram, so follow along with us there too!
