The Food Wine & Heroes event is raising money to benefit the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Activities League (SAL) juvenile delinquency program. Restaurants from San Mateo County will offer cuisine, wine, and desserts and SAL will be giving out awards. The event will be hosted at the Fox Theater on Oct. 12th at 5:00pm.
Head down to the Courthouse Square with the kiddos for Kidchella, featuring Andy Z and the Andyland Band. They will be playing from 11:00am – 1:00pm on Sunday, September 10.
Last year, the City commissioned a child care needs assessment to measure the growing shortage of availability of childcare. The assessment found that only 77% of total demand for infant childcare is currently being met and that 83% of demand for preschool care is met. The City is working on solutions to address the shortage, including waiving permit fees for in-home care providers.
Ever wondered what happened to the fire damaged apartment building on Woodside Road? In 2013, the 72-unit apartment complex at 531 Woodside Road caught fire and construction is anticipated to start at the end of this year. Per a loan agreement from the City, units in the building must be affordable to low-income households until the year 2058.
