Well, it’s been an intense week to say the least. No matter what your political affiliation is or who you cast your ballot for, this election was an eye-opener. There is a great number of people in our country who are hurting and need change — there are people struggling to feed their family, practice their religion, or get an education. People who don’t feel safe or secure and need advocates. People across our nation, and right here, in Redwood City and the Bay Area.
Since Tuesday, I’ve had a number of heartfelt conversations with people I know well and people I had never met before. So if I’m looking for a silver lining amidst all the tension, it’s that this is an opportunity for people to connect, to come together, and to create change. And that change starts with us. It starts with small acts of love and kindness. It starts with empathy for those around us and communication and compromise. We choose today what tomorrow will be.
We’re curating a list of ways for people to get involved in the Bay Area to address civic issues affecting our country and our local communities. If you have an organization you love or suggestions for how people can take action and be more engaged, we would love to hear from you. Send us an email or leave us a comment below.
