Local Spots for Beer Week

Community

It’s officially beer week in the Bay Area. What started in San Francisco, has made its way to the Peninsula and there are plenty of local spots where you can find specialty beers, from sours to stout.

Ghostwood Beer Co.

The newly opened Ghostwood Beer Co. is releasing new beers this weekend and through the week. The brewery is kid and dog friendly — and outside food is welcome! Check out their Facebook page for the details.

Freewheel Brewing Company

Redwood City’s Freewheel Brewing Co. hosts the Firkin Friends Fest, which is a mini Cask Ale Festival with nine other breweries. For a more hands on experience home brewers can register for the 3rd Annual Battle of Brew Clubs, where the winners will get to brew their recipe on Freewheel’s in-house system.

Gourmet Haus Staudt

Harry’s Hofbrau

Head on down to the Hofbrau during beer week for special pours all week. It’s a perfect place to grab a pint and some hand-carved turkey for a night out.

Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company

Peninsula favorite, Devil’s Canyon, is hosting two ticketed events this year: Besties & Beer with brewery owner Kristiann Garret. And the 5th Annual West Coast Craft Can Invitational which features Big Sky Brewing, Founders Brewing Co. and Green Flash to name a few. (Better yet, admission includes all the Devil’s Canyon root beer you can drink.)
