Redwood City will be hosting the 9th annual Lunar New Year Celebration! Join lion dancers, martial artists, taiko drummers, and other live performances, for this celebration of the Year of the Pig. Plus, folks can enjoy free admission to the San Mateo County History Museum where they can find Kids Arts and Crafts! Opening ceremonies start tomorrow, Feb. 9 at 11:00am in Courthouse Square.

Redwood City’s Library is abuzz! The rooftop is home to two honeybee hives. On Feb. 5 the library unveiled a new educational display in the children’s section that includes information about bees, cabinet full of books on bees, beekeeping tools, and a livestream to the rooftop hives. Honey harvested from the beehives is now for sale in the library’s store.

The second installation in the Art Kiosk in Courthouse Square is open. The work, titled Seeking Life, is by mother-daughter team, Nora Naranjo Morse and Eliza Naranjo Morse.  Their installation depicts geese in migratory flight and celebrates the spirit behind movement and journey.

On Monday, Feb. 11 City Council will review the ~1.2M square foot office park project known as Harbor View. It’s proposed for the site that formerly was home to Malibu Grand Prix. The developer, Jay Paul Company, has completed their Environmental Impact Report and Monday’s meeting will be the first chance Council has to comment on the report’s conclusions and provide guidance on the project. Concerns include substantial impacts on housing, traffic, the port, as well as zoning and city planning. To participate, you can attend the City Council meeting Monday night at 7:00pm or send an email with your questions and/or concerns regarding the project. Emails can be sent to council@redwoodcity.org. You can find additional info on the project and process here.

Check out this weekend’s open houses like this stunning modern farmhouse in Emerald Hills or this classic craftsman in Mount Carmel. If you’d like to see either of these or are interested in buying or selling a home, let’s schedule a time to chat!
